Solai Dam Tragedy Relief Project – Nakuru County

On that tragic day in May 2018, the Patel Dam in Solai, Nakuru County, burst and unleashed devastation that swept through the entire community. Dozens of lives were lost, homes destroyed, and families displaced overnight. In response, Mizpah Foundation Kenya immediately stepped in with compassion and action — standing shoulder to shoulder with local leaders and survivors to offer hope in the face of heartbreak. Led by Apostle Jesse Karanja, together with Hon. Kimani Ngunjiri (MP for Bahati Constituency) and other community leaders, the Foundation reached Solai to comfort grieving families and provide emergency relief.

Mizpah Foundation mobilized quickly to deliver food, clothing, bedding, and cooking stoves to those who had lost everything. The Home of Love Centre – Nakuru opened its doors to accommodate 20 orphaned children who had lost their parents in the tragedy. These children were given not only a home but a future — as they joined the Mizpah Ambassador Schools, where they now receive free, quality education and the loving care they need to heal. This quick response demonstrated the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to act when communities are most in need, offering not just aid, but restoration.

The relief mission went beyond short-term assistance — it laid the foundation for long-term rebuilding. Working alongside the Kimani Ngunjiri Foundation, Mizpah Foundation Kenya ensured continued educational sponsorship and emotional support for affected children. The collaboration became a model for effective, faith-driven humanitarian response, where local and international partners united for the greater good. Through compassion, coordination, and faith, Mizpah helped restore dignity and stability to families who had lost nearly everything.

Mizpah Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to every individual, partner, and donor who supported the Solai Dam Tragedy Relief Project. Your generosity turned grief into grace, and despair into hope. As Mizpah continues to strengthen its emergency and humanitarian programs, your ongoing support is vital to ensure sustainability and readiness for future crises. Together, we can keep building a Kenya where compassion rises stronger than tragedy.
